These mistakes can range from simple problematic issues to things that could quickly lead to premature device failure. Let me quickly explain why. Every cable has inherent resistance. The thinner the cable, the more resistance the cable will have. There are other factors as well, but this is the big one. The more resistance a cable has, the more it will affect the frequency response which is possible at the end of the cable run. The reason this is related is because the load the amplifier has to deal with when driving a pair of speakers, changes with frequency.

Posts 6, I wouldn’t bother with that. A whole lotta trouble and expense for not a whole lotta gain, and high potential for things sounding a lot worse than before. The thing you need to first ask yourself is not whether such a setup is possible, but what kind of performance you want your system to deliver. Once you answer that question, THEN you figure out steps to achieve that performance goal.
Jan 11, · If you pick up a cheap speaker switch (maybe $30 at RatShack or elsewhere), and hook it to your front speaker outputs, you can use your receiver in 2-channel mode while you’re in another part of your home.
That might be a bit much for those of you who are starting out. With this being said, the question we want to answer is: One of the biggest things about this little piece state of the art that is noticeable immediately is its impressive low frequency output from a remarkably small enclosure. Additionally, the Hideaway comes with a remote bass-control to let you adjust bass levels on the fly according to your mood.
First of all, I think audiophiles with smaller cars might benefit from this enclosed sub more than most. I mean there are smaller barriers to entry using a compact powered subwoofer as opposed to typical subwoofers, which usually require tons of efforts building enclosures, wiring ,matching an amplifier to the subwoofer …etc. Regardless, this is a brand which is making a name on the car audio market,it is considered to be one of the best brands that focuses on giving you more bang for your buck, and that really appears in the linked to above subwoofer.
It comes with various tunning controls to adjust your bass and give your music the extra punch it needs. The amount of bass it can deliver is impressive given the fact that it lacks venting ports. It is equipped with RCA low and high level inputs and a remote bass level control, not to mention low pass and subsonic filters as well as soft-delay remote turn on.
The second is that the sound bar is the place where all connected devices should be fed both audio and video. Depending upon which route you choose, the set up and configuration of your sound bar speaker will vary greatly. Doing this means that you would connect your Blu-ray player, streaming media device Roku, AppleTV, Chromecast, etc directly to the television.
Shoppers can also find , , and even (two subwoofers) surround sound. Before purchasing speakers, shoppers need to be sure that the audio receiver they have has the correct inputs/outputs to accommodate the speakers as well as provide enough amplification to send sound signals to all of the speakers.

Many sub manufacturers especially the cylindrical models such as SVS’s most popular line recommend corner placement.
Imaging should be not be affected unless your mains are extremely bass-light so the sub’s crossover has to be set very high. True low-bass somewhere around hz and below becomes very difficult to accurately locate the source of it. This means if your sub is only handling the lower frequencies, placement will just affect it’s output level and possible room resonances, not imaging.
Of course, two subs one in each front corner is the optimal setup; However not all of us can afford these luxuries, and not all of us have rooms large enough to not be overwhelmed by the output of two subs -dd3mon Amp:
How to hook up full range speakers along with subwoofers to a two channel home receiver?

How do you hook-up or wire up one light with two on-off switches? For information on how to hook-up one light with two on-off switches, see the Related link “How to wire 3-way and 4-way switches, including wiring diagrams”, shown below. When using the correct size wire, there are severa…l possible configurations of power connection, lighting outlet, and the two 3-way switches. Power can come from the panel to one switch or the other, or to the light, whichever is convenient.
The light can be physically positioned between the switches or at the end of the two-switch series. Each configuration requires different handling of the hot, switched travelers, and neutral wires. In every case, there are runs that require three parallel conductors, whether for neutral, hot or travelers, not including any grounding wires. A 3-wire cable is highly recommended for this application. If there are more than two switch locations , a 4-way switch goes between the 3-way switches to crossover the two travelers.
Two 3-conductor cables are used for this portion, including a bypass connection for the un-switched hot. Asking this question shows you are probably not quite ready to take on this particular task.
Connecting passive subwoofers, 2-channel amp, and AV Receiver?
February 3, I have the AMP and am currently using it to power my 2 front speakers in my 7. Would the AMP be able to power the subwoofer in addition to my 2 front speakers? Also, which subwoofer do you recommend of the two noted? The location would be lower front left corner of room approx. Thank you for your help!
Just connect the wires to the speakers and the wires to the sub to the same speaker terminals. You can use a fairly thin wire to send the signal to the sub so they should both fit into the terminal. permalink.
Oct 5 – 4: Two amps connected to same speakers First, I must say that I do NOT know enough about the specific voltage levels of the various inputs available to say whether this scheme is safe. However, I do know enough about what goes on concerning inputs to point out the potential areas that could cause a problem. I see two potential problems with employing this type of connection scheme.
First, there is noise. In this scheme your passing the source signal thru 2 seperate pre-amplifiers. I suspect that this will cause an increase in noise. Maybe not enough to matter but it’s also possible that you may start hearing police radios or cell phone signals in the background of your music. The second is that you may risk overloading the input stage on that second pre-amplifier. I cannot say for sure if that will happen because I do not know if Line Level inputs are designed for the same level of signal voltage as an Amplifier Input.
If they are, using this scheme is perfectly safe. However, if Amplifier Inputs are designed for a higher signal voltage than a Line Level input then using a pre-out to feed a Line Level input could result in your overdriving the input.
But what the manufacturer is not showing you is the bandwidth vs. Quality of bass and how well it integrates into a system is paramount. If I have to sacrifice a bit of extension and SPL to achieve this, so be it. The Set-Up I left my EP towards the left front corner behind my couch as it has been for the past 3 years. I placed one EP on top of it and the other EP diagonally located towards the back right of the room. Luckily the distance between both EP s was relatively equal to the primary listening area making it much easier to integrate them and not have to worry about bass cancellations due to mismanaged time alignment between the two subs.
Mar 29, · First, doing that would drop the load rating you make it too low like 1ohm and you blow the amp. Secondly, the drop in load will make it put out a little more power but this will not give enough power to make two speakers sound : Resolved.
January 24, We are always preaching the more subs the better in a home theater system particularly two to four for a variety of reasons such as; smoother bass response across a wider listening area and increased dynamic range. So now that you’ve decided to purchase two or four subs, its time to show you how to connect them up properly to ensure you achieve the maximum benefits of a multi sub system. This article has been recently updated to incorporate two YouTube video discussions – 1.

Basic Information when Choosing A/V Receivers
Monday, October 30, – It’s something that is commonplace with Velodyne’s subs and can be found in Polk’s higher end subs like the PSW of course, we also utilize an amp with this feature. I could be wrong, but I don’t think this would overload the sub’s input. Oddly enough, this isn’t true.
The colors of the two cables will be different to make sure you connect them to the right jacks. Step 2 – Understand Your Subwoofer Your subwoofer may be either a Single Voice Coil or a Dual Voice Coil (popular in car audio systems) woofer.
Speaker Connections for proper impedance match A note about amplifiers: You should always use the recommended load for your amplifier. However, if you must use a load other than the recommended load, here is a short guide. Most solid-state amplifiers would rather look at an open circuit no speaker at all than a load. Therefore, you can usually use a load that is higher than the recommended load.
Do not use a lower impedance load, as this could cause serious damage to your SS amp. On the other hand, most tube amplifiers need a load to avoid transformer or tube socket damage. If a mismatch can not be avoided on a tube amp, it is better to go towards a lower impedance rather than too high of a speaker impedance. This may stress the tubes some, but, tubes are cheaper than transformers.
How many speakers can I add to my receiver/amp?
You’ll be enjoying cinematic sound in no time Shares The AV receiver is the powerhouse of the home cinema experience. It binds together the sources, the speakers and what you see on screen. A shows two locations options for a single subwoofer – or you can add a second subwoofer placed in both locations making a system setup), left and right surround speakers and left and right rear surround speakers.
I get this question quite often and it’s something I wondered about when I was first getting into car audio. Can you use car stereo equipment in a home stereo? The answer is yes. Speakers This is especially true of speakers since they are passive devices. But you do need to make sure your home stereo unit can handle the lower impedance of most car speakers.
The typical car speaker is four ohms and most home receivers are designed for eight ohms. You would either need a receiver capable of driving four ohms or you would need to wire a pair of identical drivers in series to get eight ohms.
